Horsfield To Compete: Caribbean Championships
Robin Horsfield will be flying the Bermuda flag this weekend in St. Maarten at the Caribbean Mountain Biking Championships.
Racing in the Junior category [age 17-18], 17 year-old Horsfield will be Bermuda’s sole representative at the second installment of this regional competition, which will be contested on Sunday morning in the Dutch island territory.
Competitors from around the Caribbean will converge on the host island starting today [Sept 23] and will include contingents from Trinidad & Tobago and Puerto Rico, both of which won several titles in the inaugural event in 2015.
Mr. Horsfield is traveling with his coach, Mark Brown.
“Robin is quite deserving of this opportunity to represent Bermuda and the BBA”, said Bermuda Bicycle Association president Peter Dunne.
“Given his results both locally and overseas in mountain biking this year there was no question that he was well-prepared for the championships in St. Maarten.
“Robin is also our reigning junior national champion in this discipline and has remained focussed, both in training and competition, in off-road racing.
“As this regional event grows we hope that we will be able to support athletes like Robin who demonstrate the skills and training commitment to mountain biking.”
Do they have a regional competition for the 35 plus year olds?
