BPS Confirm Death, Foul Play Not Ruled Out

[Updated with videos] The police confirmed the death of 55-year-old Edmund John Flood, and said the circumstances surrounding his death “are suspicious” and “foul play has not been ruled out. ”

“There is a person of interest to this enquiry that the police are looking to speak with. Additionally, there is a motor car; a Blue Toyota Starlet motor car registration number 34769 which is also of interest to this investigation,” the police said.

Acting Inspector Jason Smith’s statement:

Acting Inspector Jason Smith said, “The Bermuda Police Service can confirm the death of Edmund John Flood aged 55 as the man whose body was found in a residence on Tribe Rd 5, Paget on the 2nd October, 2016.

“Approximately 2:25p.m. Sunday, 02-Oct-2016, Police Officers were dispatched to a private residence located on Tribe Road, No.5, Paget. There the officers met with a member of the public who stated that he has concerns for the well-being of the now deceased Edmund John Flood.

“The attending police officers entered the residence of Mr. Flood and discovered his lifeless body inside of the apartment.

“The officers established a crime scene and the scene was sterilised for forensic examination. The circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Flood are suspicious at this time; and foul play has not been ruled out.

“A Forensic Pathologist will be arriving shortly to assist in determining the cause of death and the results of this examination will direct the course of the investigation.

“The police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating this vehicle and the movements of this vehicle from the 29th September until today.

“Any information that any member of the public has in relation to this vehicle should be reported immediately to police Comops. Any persons[s] seen in this vehicle is also of interest to the police investigation.

“The Bermuda Police Service is asking the public that ‘If You See Something, Say Something’. Record where you have seen this vehicle, what day and time you saw this vehicle and make note of what the person looked like that was driving this vehicle.

“Any information on this vehicle and the movement of this vehicle from Thursday the 29th September until today is of paramount importance to this investigation and we would like to hear from you.

“Additionally, the Bermuda Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the movements of Edmund John Flood the week of September 26th until the discovery of his body on October 2nd 2016.

“Today, the family and friends of Edmund John Flood are left grieving wondering what happened to him. Any information received will be treated in the strictest of confidence and all investigative leads acted upon.
