BMDS To Present ‘Adventure In Pantoland’
The Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society will be offering a fun filled performance this festive season this year with an original piece by Alan Frayn called Adventure in Pantoland.
“The story starts in the Land of Make Believe, the home of all Pantomime characters when they’re not performing on stage, from where Poison Ivy, the wicked witch, banishes some of our best loved Pantomime friends, wiping their memories in the process,” a spokesperson said.
“With the help of Fairy Honeysuckle, the characters “play” various parts in six different pantomimes, trying to find where they belong.
“The audience will enjoy seven different storylines including Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, Dick Whittington, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and Cinderella, the traditional audience participation song [with a twist] and a silly skit!
“The Cast include the husband, wife and daughter team of Will [Wizard], Julia [Witch] and Billy-Rose Kempe, Keiran Hamilton as the Boy, Lindsey Frazier as the Girl, Jessii Terra as the fairy and the comedic talents of Shawn Angiers as the Fool and Stephen Notman as the Dame.
“There are plenty of catchy tunes to get your toes tapping from Musical Director Lisa Maule, arranged by James Burn and energetically choreographed by Sophie Whitmore. The show is produced by Kim Day and Emma Muggleton.”
Director Laura Bardgett explains “Adventure in Pantoland is a fun filled, old fashioned celebration of Pantomime complete with lots of audience participation, traditional characters and some really bad jokes.
“We even have a Pantomime cow! If you’re looking for a great way to start the festive season, then pick up your tickets and enjoy the mayhem!”
Tickets are $35 each and are available at Ptix from November 18th or one hour before curtain at the City Hall box office.
There are twelve shows running from December 8th – 17th at 7.00pm [no Sunday evening show] with three matinees at 2.00 pm on December 10th, 11th and 17th.
