Report: Norwich & Fulham Interested In Wells

November 21, 2016

Speculation surrounds the future of Bermudian footballer Nahki Wells, who is the subject of multiple news reports today in England that suggest Norwich City and Fulham may be interested in the star striker.

The UK’s Telegraph reports, “Huddersfield Town are facing the prospect of losing Nahki Wells in January after the striker rejected a new contract.

“David Wagner’s Championship high-fliers will demand £8 million [almost $10 million] for Wells, who is understood to have turned down the chance of becoming the club’s top earner.

Their report said, “Huddersfield Town are facing the prospect of losing Nahki Wells in January after the striker rejected a new contract.

“David Wagner’s Championship high-fliers will demand £8 million for Wells, who is understood to have turned down the chance of becoming the club’s top earner.

“Norwich and Fulham are two clubs likely to pursue the 26-year-old when the transfer window opens in the New Year.”

“And the potential sale of Wells, last season’s top scorer with 18 goals, will deal a major blow to Wagner’s hopes of keeping the club in the top six.”

Meanwhile Huddersfield’s local press, the Huddersfield Examiner, is reporting that “speculation is starting over the future of Nahki Wells – even though he has 18 months left on his Huddersfield Town contract.

“The 26-year-old Bermudian is said to be a potential £8m target for Norwich City and Fulham when the January transfer window opens.

“Rumoured previously to be on the wanted list for Aston Villa , Wells was Town’s 18-goal leading scorer last season and has three to his name this term.

“It would not be beyond the bounds of possibility for someone like Wells to be offered a contract extension at this stage, even though his terms run until the end of next season.”

Wells signed with Huddersfield Town in January 2014, with the club paying approximately $2 million for him, which was both a record setting fee for the club itself and a record transfer fee paid for a Bermudian footballer.
