Three BSOA Exhibits To Open On December 9
The Bermuda Society of Arts [BSOA] is set to open three new exhibits on Friday, December 9, with the free opening reception to take place from 5.00pm to 7.00pm.
The exhibits will include the BSoA Members’ Winter Show, Pieces of Me by Lee Greene, and Live by Kochakorn and Khwan.
The exhibitions will continue until Wednesday Jan. 4th 2017.
Regarding the BSoA Members’ Winter Show in the Onions & Edinburgh Gallery, a spokesperson said, “Our Members’ Winter Show consists of new works from our member artists in different mediums.”
Regarding Pieces of Me by Lee Greene in Studio A, a spokesperson said, “After 25 years in the corporate world, Lee Greene felt unfulfilled. Through self-reflection, Lee realized that he had been ignoring his artistic self for far too long.
“It was at that ‘aha’ moment that his early love of art was reawakened. From that day forward, he had not stopped pouring himself into his art. The result is the birth of 15 works whose medium is water-based, black acrylic marker on canvas. These canvases depict famous people in history.
“These are people who have made a difference in the world, either through their contribution to humanity or their musical talent. They are famous people whom he admires and with whom he connects. They possess qualities that he values and respects, qualities that he sees within himself – hence the name “Pieces of Me”.
“Amongst his collection you will find the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and Nina Simone, to name a few.
“Having no formal training or technique, Lee’s artistic expression is, in fact, a reflection of his life. His approach is to extract and create bold, black and white forms in a minimalistic way. Through simplicity comes great beauty.”
Regarding Live by Kochakorn and Khwan in Studio B, a spokesperson said, “This exhibition consists of works done in oil paint of landscapes and water scenes.”
