BSX Wins Most Outstanding Offshore Exchange
The Bermuda Stock Exchange [BSX] has been awarded Acquisition International’s [AI] Excellence Award, 2016 for Most Outstanding Offshore Stock Exchange.
The award alongside others has been recognized in AI Magazine’s 2016 Global Excellence Awards supplement published earlier last month in London.
The supplement features a two-page article on the Exchange highlighting among other things the BSX’s position as a leading market for the listing of Insurance Linked Securities.
Launched in 2016 the AI global Excellence Awards recognise and reward the firms and individuals whose commitment to sustained outstanding performance has seen them leading the way, not only in their won sector or industry, but across the entire global corporate spectrum.
In making the announcement AI Editor Jonathan Miles noted, “Through these awards, AI Magazine is working to showcase the work of businesses and individuals at the top of their game, getting an inside look at how they go above and beyond for their clients time and time again while at the same time pushing the boundaries of what has previously been thought possible for firms in their industry.”
Mr. Miles explained that honouring top performers such as the BSX is done through a rigorous and in-depth selection process from our in-house award specialists.
“The team left no stone unturned to ensure that every one of the chosen firms was selected based on proven performance over the past 12 months, guaranteeing that all the award recipients were chosen purely on merit and can take pride in the knowledge that they truly deserve their place among this year’s esteemed winners.” noted Mr. Miles.
In accepting the award BSX President & CEO Greg Wojciechowski commented, “The Exchange is honoured to be recognised for its achievements. This award speaks volumes to the dedication and hard work of our small team of dedicated professionals and the Bermuda Stock Exchange reputation globally.
“The timing of this award is a perfect adjunct to the launch of our local ‘Own your share of Bermuda’ Investor Education Programme, as it further punctuates our value proposition both domestically and internationally.”
In the article, Mr. Wojciechowski notes that one of the many features which set the Exchange apart from other offshore markets is the commercial sophistication of Bermuda’s well respected and regulated commercial market and the Island’s unique geographic position.
When asked how he thinks the Exchange is perceived by its peers, Mr. Wojciechowski stated, “I would like to think they would say that we offer a solid, modern and regulated stock exchange platform that adds value by our well-known brand and reputation.
“I [think] our clients would say that the BSX takes a commercially sensible approach when dealing with new business while never forgetting its critical regulatory responsibilities to ensure that the market platform maintains international best practice standards.”
The crystal award is being shipped to Bermuda later this month and will take a place of honour at the Exchange’s 30 Victoria Street headquarters.
