Dr. Mark Britnell To Speak At Chamber AGM

March 31, 2017

The Chamber of Commerce announced that this year’s Annual General Meeting keynote speaker will be Dr. Mark Britnell, Chairman and Partner of the Global Health Practice at KPMG and author of In Search of the Perfect Health System.

The AGM Luncheon will be held at the Hamilton Princess in the Harbourview Ballroom on Thursday, 6 April 2017 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm

Dr. Britnell has spent more than 20 years working with public and private healthcare organisations, travelling to over 60 countries on nearly 200 occasions. Combining the heart and passion of a healthcare professional and patient, with the head of a man leading a successful global enterprise, Dr Britnell has learned first-hand what makes a healthcare system work – and what doesn’t.

Speaking from the findings of his book, Dr. Britnell’s keynote address will focus on what the ideal health system looks like, which countries’ health systems perform best, and the lessons we can learn from healthcare systems from across the globe.

Kendaree Burgess, Executive Director, stated: “The Chamber is pleased to welcome Dr. Britnell to speak at this year’s Annual General Luncheon, specifically focusing on what the perfect healthcare system looks like, which countries’ health systems perform best, and the lessons that Bermuda can learn from healthcare systems across the globe. We anticipate that this subject will bring forth a lively discussion as healthcare affects every member of the local community.”

Dr. Britnell joined KPMG in October 2009 as Head of Health for the UK & Europe following 20 years of distinguished international health service experience across a broad range of leadership positions. He was subsequently appointed Head of KPMG’s Global Health Practice.

He has produced influential research on issues such as eHealth, personalization and quality maximization. Mark has driven the growth and development of KPMG’s health practices around the world, giving KPMG a truly global insight into what works in healthcare.

Dr. Britnell is a regular speaker at international healthcare conferences, contributes to think-tanks and writes for publications including The Times, The Health Service Journal and The British Medical Journal.

He has a BA Degree from Warwick University, is a Senior Associate of The Kings Fund and a Senior Fellow in Health Service Management at Birmingham University. He is also active in the charitable and voluntary sectors.

Stephen Woodward, Managing Director at KPMG in Bermuda and Head of Bermuda’s Enterprise Practice said: “KPMG is pleased to partner with the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce to provide a keynote speaker of Mark’s caliber for this year’s AGM.

“Healthcare is a dominant and important topic globally, and is particularly relevant in a country like Bermuda that is facing the increased pressures of an aging population and ever-increasing premiums which will undoubtedly have an impact on our local healthcare system.”
