Registration Opens: Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon

Clarien Bank announced that registration will open Friday, March 31 for the 29th annual Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon and Carnival which will be held Saturday, May 20 at Clearwater Beach in St. David’s.

The event is temporarily moving from its usual June date in order to avoid competing with various America’s Cup-related activities.

The popular swim-bike-run event is open to children aged 7 to 15 years and there’s also a Tiny Tots race to give youngsters aged 3 to 6 years their first fun triathlon experience. The top three boys and girls finishers in the 11-15 category will win scholarship funds for Clarien Iron Kids accounts. First place will receive $1,000, second $500 and third $250.

Registration is available online only and is capped at 400 participants. To register, go to: Athletes who register early – by 5:00pm on Friday, May 5 – will be entered into a draw for one of two bicycles. Registration closes 5:00pm, Friday, May 19 [or once the maximum capacity of 400 registrants has been reached].

Registration for Tiny Tots, ages 3-6 is $8.00. Registration for all other participants, ages 7-15 is $15.00. All participants must be ages 3 to 15 on December 31, 2017. Children turning 11 before December 31, 2017 will be required to register in the 11-15 age group category.

The community is encouraged to come out and enjoy the Iron Kids Carnival, filled with free activities including fun castles, games, face-painting, great food and much more.

Boys & Girls [ages 11-15]

  • 200 metre swim
  • 5 mile bike
  • 1 mile run

Boys & Girls [ages 7-10]

  • 100 metre swim
  • 2.5 mile bike
  • 0.5 mile run

Tiny Tots [ages 3-6]

  • 10 metre swim
  • 250 metre bike
  • 50 metre run
