Football: Premier, First Division Weekend Results
X-Roads, St. George’s Colts, Wolves, Flanagan’s Onions, PHC Zebras, and North Village Rams all walked away with wins in recent Premier and First Division football action.
First: X-Road’s 6 Ireland Rangers 0
At the Garrison Field, X-Road’s defeated visiting Ireland Rangers 6 – 0 and with Young Men Social Club going down at the Wellington Oval, they have moved into the top spot for the First Division. Jorge Sanchez gave X-Road’s the lead in the 11th minute which was the only goal of the half. Paul Simons doubled the X-Road’s lead in the 51st minute and then six minutes later Tyquan Perinchief scored to make it 3 – 0. Antinori Butterfield would find the back of the net in the 61st minute to extend the X-Road’s lead to 4 – 0, Sanchez would then score his second goal of the game in the 69th minute before Simons would close out the scoring with his second of the game in the 82nd minute.
First: St. George’s Colts 2 Young Men Social Club 1
At the Wellington Oval, previous First Division League Leaders Young Men Social Club suffered their first league loss of the Season going down 2 – 1 to the St. George’s Colts. Clay Darrell had given Young Men Social Club the lead in the 2nd minute, but Donavan Thompson equalized for the St. George’s Colts on the stroke of half time. Just when it was looking as if the two teams would share the points, Jarazhino Basset found the back of the net for the St. George’s Colts to earn all three points and knock Young Men Social Club off the undefeated league list and the top of the table.
First: St. David’s 1 Paget Lions 1
At Lord’s in St. David’s, the host St. David’s and the Paget lions played to a 1 – 1 draw. Dion Stovell gave Paget the lead in the first half converting from the penalty spot, but in the 50th minute Marcus Proctor would equalize for St. David’s as the two teams shared the points.
First: Southampton Rangers 1 Wolves 2
At the Southampton Oval, visitors Wolves got two second half goals from Marcus Ming as they defeated the Southampton Rangers who had taken the lead with a Lorenzo Darrell goal 2 – 1.
Premier: Boulevard Blazers 1 Flanagan’s Onions 3
After a scoreless first half that saw Flanagan’s have a strong wind at their backs, they took the lead in the 57th minute when Treshun Smith scored, Ian Coke would equalize for the Boulevard Blazers when he converted from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute, but one minute later Smith scored again to give the Flanagan’s Onions go ahead 2 – 1. Keston Lewis would find the back of the net in the 90th minute to end the game as a contest and earn the Flanagan’s Onions 3 important points.
Premier: Somerset Eagles 1 PHC Zebras 2
At the White Hill Field, the PHC Zebras used two goals in the first half to defeat the Somerset Eagles 2 – 1. Na’eem Griffith gave the PHC Zebras the lead in the 32nd minute, and then Idress Sharrieff doubled the lead on the stroke of half time. Kanhai Fray would pull the Somerset Eagles within one when he scored directly from a corner, but the Somerset Eagles were gifted an opportunity to draw level however their spot kick attempt was missed.
Premier: North Village Rams 1 Devonshire Cougars 0
After a scoreless first half, Shanye Hollis scored the only goal of the game in the 57th minute as the North Village Rams defeated the Devonshire Cougars 1 – 0 at the Bernard Park.
