‘Succeeding Professionally, Growing Personally’

March 22, 2017

Administrative professionals often work quietly behind-the-scenes to ensure their company is running as smoothly and efficiently as possible, but next month they’ll have a chance to shine on a public platform.

Administrative Excellence Bermuda, an organization that seeks to bring together industry professionals from across the island to help them reach new levels of professional excellence, today announced it will host the 2nd Annual Succeeding Professionally, Growing Personally Conference on April 25.

According to one of the conference organizers William Spriggs, the career development opportunity, taking place at the Fairmont Southampton, will be “a huge day of cutting-edge education and life-changing motivation”.

“Last year’s full day affair at the Fairmont Southampton featured a handful of motivational keynote presenters and over 200 attendees, who left empowered thanks to new administrative development skills and knowledge that could help them take best next steps towards career and personal success,” Mr. Spriggs explained.

“We are committed to providing high quality administrative skills development experiences and networking opportunities for administrators island-wide – and our 2nd Annual Administrative Conference this is another great way for us to do this.”

The event originally started as a way of honouring four administrators who passed the September 2016 Certified Administrative Professional [CAP] exam.

The Administrative Excellence Bermuda team wanted recognise them by booking out a small board room and sending email invitations to the awardees’ family, friends and colleagues, however, the invitation list continued to grow and grow. The organization responded to the high demand by hosting a special event for administrators island-wide and included the CAP awards ceremony as an accompaniment to that.

The 2017 event will feature a dynamic line-up of local and international presenters, including Karla Lacey, Chief Operations Officer with the Bermuda Tourism Authority; Dr. Crystal Clay, Talent, Development Consultant with Chubb; Pandora Glasford, Training Manager at the Department of Workforce Development, and Kellianne Smith, Head of Global HR & Organizational Development at Argus, back by popular demand as Keynote Presenter.

It will also contain a virtual presentation by James Spellos, President of Meeting-U, a company specializing in helping people become more productive and comfortable with technology. Mr. Spellos, who from his New York base, delivers over 150 seminars annually on how to use technology more efficiently, will present on hot, new technologies for administrative professionals.

In addition to the knowledge development presentations and skill enhancement group activities, the energy-packed administrative learning experience will also showcase three newly Certified Administrative Professionals.

These administrators passed the rigorous CAP exam, facilitated by the International Association of Administrative Professionals [IAAP] last September, after six months of focused study.

In addition to networking opportunities, a continental breakfast and buffet lunch, the event also offers interactive learning activities throughout the day and corporate gifts provided by many of the attendees’ generous companies.

Barbara Weathers, IAAP Certification Manager and last year’s conference international keynote presenter stated, “The administrative professional is challenged like never before to reengineer skill-sets to not just survive but thrive in tomorrow’s increasingly digital world that demands extra mile results.

“The 2nd Annual Succeeding Professionally, Growing Personally – Navigating Tomorrow’s Change conference experience, is set to support all administrators with boldly embracing their personal and professional goals in the most exciting way possible.”
