Video: Skydiver Lands At America’s Cup Village

June 1, 2017

Jon DeVore, Captain of the Red Bull Air Force, descended into the America’s Cup Village in Dockyard, and posted air-to-ground footage of the experience online saying “what a great time we had jumping into the Americas Cup, if you have to swoop the ocean you might as well stay dry.”

The opening ceremony also featured Gene Steede and other local entertainers, the Gombeys, the Bermuda Regiment, the America’s Cup sailing teams, giant Longtails suspended over the area, a fireworks display, and more.

On the Red Bull website, Mr. DeVore says, “My passion is human flight, and I’d like to teach the general public that what we’re doing is actually flying, not just dropping.” To date, he has logged over 17,000 skydives and 500 BASE jumps.
