Flight Diverts Due To Sick Passenger
An American Airlines flight from Spain diverted to Bermuda today [July 18] with an ill passenger on board.
The aircraft arrived at LF Wade International Airport at 2.05pm this afternoon with 288 passengers on board, including a female passenger who needed immediate medical assistance. The flight was from Madrid en route to Miami.
A Skyport Airport Duty Officer said, “The 67-year-old woman had a pre-existing medical condition and was treated on board the aircraft by a doctor before it landed in Bermuda.
“Once the airplane landed, she was taken off with a high-lift and placed in a wheelchair. The woman was rushed to the King Edward VII Memorial hospital via ambulance for treatment with her husband and nephew.”
The flight, AA 69, departed the island for Miami at 3.00pm.
