Jeremy Pinchin, Chief Executive Officer, Hiscox Bermuda said, “Hiscox is once again delighted to be sponsoring the Hiscox Celebrity Cricket Festival, now in its 9th year. This event was the brainchild of our current Chairman, Rob Childs, as a way to celebrate Bermuda’s 400th anniversary in 2009.
:The celebrity cricket day is a day the players and their families all look forward to. The support of so many senior island figures in giving up their time to support the cricketers is part of making the day so special and sets an example to our future leaders some of whom we hope will come from these fantastic young players.”
Lloyd Fray, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board, stated, “I would like to take this time to thank Hiscox, and particularly Jeremy, for his leadership role in developing this event during his time in Bermuda.
“I also appreciate and thank all the supporters of the event including Barritts, Goslings, Undercover Tent Rentals, all our raffle sponsors and promoters. This is a great day out for the family and I would like to encourage everyone to come out to support our U11 boys and girls take on the Celebrities.”
Mr. Fray continued, “The 9th Annual Hiscox Celebrity Cricket Festival starts with the Hiscox U11 Skills and Drills Tournament in which well over 100 Bermuda 11&under players take part. This competition tests both the skill level of both individual players and teams.
“The BCB uses the results to assist with national selection as results are a good measure of technical ability. The BCB provided the opportunity for all youth league coaches to attend a coaching session in which the skills and drills were demonstrated.
“They also received coaching packs, training plans and guidelines to assist them with training during the season. This is part of the BCB’s continued efforts to establish standards for coaching and to improve the overall level of cricket on the island.”
The BCB is pleased to announce and congratulate the Hiscox 11&Under [11&U] All-Star team selected to compete in the Celebrity Cricket Festival on Saturday 15 July, National Sports Center, North Field, 1pm.
