Video: Police Press Conference On Police Week
The Bermuda Police Service held a press conference today [Sept 27] to discuss the plans for the upcoming Police Week, which gets underway this coming Saturday.
The press conference has just concluded and we will try and post additional information later on, and in the meantime the 15-minute live video replay is below.
In explaining the week long event, the police previously said, “The Gymkhana begins at 10am Saturday 30th September. See our website for early registration or turn up on the day and register. All participants must wear a helmet.
“Join us along with the Ex-Police Association as we remember those we’ve lost at 5:30pm on Sunday 1st October at the Police Cemetery located at the end of Alexandra Road, Devonshire.
“Following the ceremony, a sunset performance by the Halton Regional Police Service Pipes and Drums along with Bermuda Island Pipe Band and the Somerset Brigade Band, will be held at Police Headquarters.
“On Monday 2nd October we will recognise the exemplary behaviour of over 130 of the islands school children in an invitation only presentation.
“The ever popular Seniors’ Tea will be held at the Hamilton Princess starting at 11am on Tuesday 3rd October. Seniors who are interested in attending should RSVP with Ms. Young on 247-1535.
“This year we have reintroduced the Police Dynamic Display Day, which will take place on Wednesday 4th October. All schools are invited to attend the Police Field where they will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with our officers and see what we do. All though the target audience for this event is school students, we do welcome all. We are requesting that schools who wish to attend RSVP with Sgt Minors at sminors@bps.bm.
“Thursday October 5th the BPS will be holding a sports and fun day at the police field starting at 9:00am. Friday October 6th we will be holding a silent art auction and community partner night. This is an invitation only event.
“Saturday October 7th Police Week 2017 will wrap up with the Police Ball, hosted by Nadanja Bailey, also featuring several local entertainers. Tickets are $100. This is a private event, anyone who is interested in attending should 717-2062 for more information on how to obtain tickets.”
