October 23, 2017

The 2017 Elite Caribbean Cycling Championships wrapped up recently with the women’s individual time trial for Nicole Mitchell and men’s road race for Dominique Mayho in Martinique.

Ms. Mitchell finished the 16.5 kilometer event in 28:44, securing her eighth place; the event was won by Teniel Campbell of Trinidad and Tobago for her second title in as many days.

Mr. Mayho’s road race ended in his abandoning after he was unable to stay with the front of the race. The race was dominated by the team from Dominican Republic, which took the top four spots in a lesson on team riding, beating the powerful teams from Martinique and Guadeloupe.

For Mitchell and Mayho this is the end of their 2017 international racing season. Bermuda’s juniors will head to Barbados for the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships on November 4 and November 5.
