Water Safety Annual October Safety Seminar
The Bermuda Water Safety Council [WSC] will be hosting the fourth annual October Practical Safety Seminar aboard one of the fast ferries on Sunday, October 22 at 7.00pm [rain date October 29], departing from Albuoy’s Point in Hamilton.
A spokesperson said, “This purpose of the seminars have been to provide a hands on practical program for local boaters to learn basic safety practices and emergency procedures. The seminars are limited to sixty [60] persons and reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
“This year’s seminar will include marine communications and procedures for making emergency radio calls; safe speed for night boating and safe navigating at night [lights and buoys]; and safe use of flares and rockets.”
“The WSC would like to ask all boaters with outdated flares and rockets to drop them off in the flares bin at the Tynes Bay waste facility in Devonshire or email Micael Hayward at boat36@logic.bm.
“The cost to attend the event is $10.00, cash or cheque only [children under 14 much be accompanied by an adult]. The make a reservation, please email njtrott@gov.bm. Please make your reservation early to reserve your spot. Families are welcomed.”
