74-Year-Old Taxi Driver Arrested After Crash
A 74-year-old taxi driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired following a collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire.
A police spokesperson said, “Police responded to a report of a collision that took place at 8:57pm on North Shore Road in Devonshire. It appears that a Taxi Driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with a wall.
“As a result of the incident the driver of the taxi, a 74-year-old man, was arrested for suspicion of driving whilst impaired and an investigation into this incident is now underway.”

74 years old! Should know better!! Every drunk rider/driver is capable of vehicular homicide. Yes I’m judging him by his actions.

Hell. There’s only a few pieces of coral bleeding at the roundabout on East Broadway too in 2 locations. That’s the problem. People enable too much on this island. If the person was on medications that affect driving ability he shouldn’t have been in a Taxi. Full stop! Wait till a person you love is killed by a drunk driver and your tune will change REAL QUICK!

No issue with you judging as long as his impairment is due to alcohol and not medications. Sometimes things aren’t always as they appear.
If the medications cause impairment he shouldn’t be driving while using them either.

Many years ago the cleaning gal who had a gig at the end of my driveway would get her sweetie to pick her up at the end of her shift .
He would have been in his 70′s at that point and on his way down in his taxi would pause outside my place and chug back a few miniatures and then toss the empties in the hedge.
I believe this is a lot more common than people think. Bags of mints in the vehicle might be a giveaway .

In all my years Taxi drivers were and still are the biggest DUI’s going.
As for the mints all they did was say ‘yah eye haid a foo’ ann um nut drahunk..
not just taxi drivers, bus drivers, ambulance drivers, work crews, politicians, the list goes on but hey we don’t have a problem here in bermuda…smfh
Taxi drivers should be made to retire at 65. Can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had to make an emergency plan cos I thought the cab driver was going to die of old age at the wheel…
At the end of the year will we get a list of all the convicted drivers who were driving under the” influence of what ever”, or are they being protecte by ” DONT TELL “.
Please do not repair the wall at the Crow Lane roundabout, leave it be for all to see.
The day will come when the overseas Car & Bike rental agencies will not rent to Bermudians.

If someone was hurt or killed those defending these action would be singing a different tune. Right is right and wrong is wrong. If he was drunk then he’s at fault. If it was medication, ALL meds come with instruction. So he’s still at fault. Thank God he had no passangers.
