Bermuda School Of Music ‘Joy To The World’

The Bermuda School of Music is getting set to present Joy To The World, 400 years of Festive and Uplifting Christmas Carols on Friday [Dec 15] and Saturday [Dec 16] from 7:30pm at St. John’s Church, Pembroke.

The program will feature The Bermuda Chamber Choir & Orchestra and The Bermuda School of Music Youth Choir which will be directed by Marjorie Pettit. Orchestra will be led by Jennifer Sheridan.

A spokesperson said, “Purchase your tickets today for the Season’s most anticipated Choral Christmas Celebration featuring the combined talents of the Bermuda Chamber Choir & Orchestra and the Bermuda School of Music Youth Choir led by renowned Music Director Marjorie Pettit.”

“The Choirs go from strength to strength and this year’s group is outstanding,” says Marjorie Pettit.

“You won’t want to miss this festive and uplifting concert programme with solos by Mezzo Soprano Kerri Dietz , [who has just performed to rave reviews for her role as Orfeo in ‘Orfeo and Eurydice’ with the New Sussex Opera Company] and Trumpeter Mathew Ross who has played with many prestigious orchestras including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the 2017 National Youth Orchestra of Canada.

“Also featured will be young Zoe O’Connor of G & S’s recent ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, who will lead the Youth Choir in a particularly enjoyable sleigh ride; as well as well known singers Soprano Joanna Sherratt-Wyer, and Baritone Peter Nash. “Joy to the World” will cover 400 years of Holiday music including well-loved Christmas Carols; works by Praetorius, Bach, and John Rutter; and many other magical seasonal pieces both old and new.”
