In attendance to the ceremony was the Minister of National Security Wayne Caines members of the Glasford family, members of the award recipients family and the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service family.

The recipient for the award for 2017 was Firefighter Lionel C. Furbert, a 21 year veteran of the Fire Service who was surprised, honored and humbled when his name was officially announced as the winner.
