Advisory: No East End Trash Collection Today

January 26, 2018

The Ministry of Public Works is advising east end residents that there will be no garbage collection today [Jan 26] in the east end.

A spokesperson said, “The Waste Management Section of the Ministry of Public Works is advising residents that there will be no garbage collection in the east end today.

“Collection in the western parishes, which began yesterday [January 25], will be completed this afternoon, with the exception of the areas between Scott’s Hill Road and Whale Bay Road.

“The normal waste collection schedule will resume next week with the west end being serviced on Monday and Thursday and the east end being serviced on Tuesday and Friday.

“In areas where trash has yet to be collected, the Ministry is requesting that residents secure waste bags in lidded bins.

“As a reminder, the public can take their waste and recyclables to the Tynes Bay Public Drop off which is open from 7.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. on Saturday and from 1.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. on Sunday.

“The Ministry apologises to the public for the inconvenience.”

Didn’t Foggo just have a meeting with the BPSU on improving efficiency in Government?

As a start, they might consider doing their freaking jobs. No busses, no trash collection, schools run down, parks over grown with weeds.

Just as long as they get their pay rise, 70 days sick leave, six weeks vacation.

  2. Micro says:

The reason why would be nice. There was no collection Tuesday either.

  3. Cannot keep the brand new trash trucks running either…first buses then trash trucks…..inept effort …innept over see….what else is wrong?
    My guess is …ferries next.
Transport is obviously plps’weakness….sorry u lot…but it is time you stepped to the wicket.

  4. Wahoo says:

I want my tax dollars back. I gave up on them years ago I take my trash to Tynes Bay myself.

  5. Hmmm says:

Guess they haven’t gotten the new schedule yet!!!

  6. Spanner breath says:

It’s amazing the called for transparency. We hear NOTHING about buses and now no reason for not picking upntrash. Well done voters.

  7. Rebecca B says:

We need an explanation for goodness sake!!! “We are not doing our jobs in the East End this week. Please take care of your trash yourself” And no reason given. I smell a rat!

  8. Chris D says:

Tues, Jan 30… Areas mentioned in west end still have not had garbage pickup. So much for “The normal waste collection schedule will resume next week with the west end being serviced on Monday and Thursday” comment from the ministry!!!!!!

    • Toodle-oo says:

In my travels today I’ve seen only one trash truck west of the south roundabout .
The timing couldn’t have been better , whatever the reason . No-one has touched their trash since last week .It’s still all sitting out there and the wind is howling , blowing it everywhere .

Can someone please give us a reason for this and tell us what’s going on ?

  9. nerema says:

    No trash was collected yesterday.

So what’s the plan now? So far they haven’t bothered to tell us.

I guess keeping basic services running is beyond the capabilities of this government.
