Advisory: New Traffic Lights Installed In Paget

New traffic lights were recently installed in Paget and will become operational on Friday, February 9th, with the Government saying that “two new traffic light systems were installed near Modern Mart and Meals on Wheels and near the railway trail next to Harmony Club.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works is advising that new traffic lights, which were recently installed in Paget, will become operational Friday, February 9th.

“As a note, two new traffic light systems were installed near Modern Mart and Meals on Wheels and near the railway trail next to Harmony Club.

“The aim of the new lights is to increase safety for pedestrians, including seniors and students who frequently use these areas.

“Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to be mindful when walking and driving in this particular area of Paget.

“The Ministry takes this opportunity to thank the public in advance for their cooperation.”

    Really. Traffic lights needed intersections of Khyber Pass/ Middle Road & Burnt House Hill/ Middle Road. As well as Tee street bothe intersections. Middle & South Roads

    So they put two sets of lights within a couple hundred feet of each other? So you wait at one red light, then drive for ten seconds literally, and you are at another red light. Wow, what a great idea.

      Exactly!

      This is a rear-ender waiting to happen. There needs to be some kind of signage or another light nearer to the Paget lights to warn people coming up round the corner to start slowing down or if it’s clear.

    If it is deemed necessary, than so let it be, we hope police officers will be on foot to encourage motorists to be aware of the introduction of these lights, and I stress encourage not ticket.
