BF&M Boosts Its Support For Endeavour
Endeavour Community Sailing, a non-profit dedicated to providing experiential Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math [STEAM] education through sailing to Bermuda’s youth, announced that BF&M has “significantly boosted its sponsorship.”
As well as sponsoring the BF&M No Limits Sailing Programme for children with autism, BF&M is extending its support of the Endeavour Community Sailing initiative as a whole – and this for the next three years.
BF&M’s partnership with Endeavour Community Sailing began in early 2017, when the BF&M No Limits Sailing Programme was launched in association with BASE [Bermuda Autism Support and Education]. The BF&M No Limits Sailing Programme introduces sailing to students who are on the autism spectrum and allows them to develop their skills in a safe and fun environment.
The programme was offered as a pilot in April 2017 during autism awareness month and it has now become one of the Endeavour team’s favourite initiatives.
“We look forward to the BF&M No Limits Sailing Programme year-round as a result of the meaningful relationships we’ve established with local youth and their teachers,” said Tristan Loescher, Endeavour’s Programme Coordinator.
Endeavour’s Programme Manager, Joshua Greenslade adds, “It’s very rewarding to see the progress that the students are making each day on and off the water. I love watching their faces light up each day with excitement during the programme.”
Jennifer Pitcher, Endeavour’s Community Engagement, Development & Partnerships Manager states, “We’re very proud of the success of the BF&M No Limits Sailing Programme and grateful for BF&M’s continued support.
“We’re also thrilled that BF&M has increased their sponsorship and committed to provide additional support to Endeavour Community Sailing as a whole for the next 3 years. BF&M’s generous support will help us to sustain Endeavour’s long-term success and amplify our impact in the community engaging Bermuda’s youth in STEAM through sailing experiential learning”.
John Wight, President and CEO of BF&M Limited, explains, “We have been so impressed with the reactions of our young BF&M No Limits sailors, as well as with the incredible Endeavour instructors.
“We are delighted to be doing our part to ensure the continuation of such a valuable programme. We are also pleased to support the broader mandate of Endeavour Community Sailing, which positively impacts so many of the Island’s students from an educational perspective, and by keeping Bermuda’s maritime heritage alive.”
Much of the Endeavour’s success results from the time and commitment dedicated by local teachers, who believe in Endeavour’s mission to engage students from different socioeconomic backgrounds across Bermuda in experiential learning.
They see the impact of STEAM education through sailing activities, along with the confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills instilled in Bermuda’s young people.
Ms. Zola French, ASD Teacher at West Pembroke Primary shares her enthusiasm for the BF&M No Limits Programme, saying, “We’re beyond excited that the programme is continuing for our students.
“It’s fantastic that Endeavour provides everyone with the same opportunity to learn and that students are met at their own pace and encouraged to develop their skills in a safe learning environment.”
Mrs. Pitcher adds, “We’re thankful to receive wonderful support from teachers, families, and organisations including Bermuda Autism Support & Education [BASE] to ensure we’re successful in achieving our goals.
“We’re also incredibly grateful for BF&M’s generous support of Endeavour Community Sailing to help us create life-changing experiences for Bermuda’s youth for years to come and we look forward to our continued partnership.”
“We’re thrilled that Endeavour will continue making a positive impact in our community with BF&M’s support. We’re excited to expose more young people across Bermuda to sailing and get them out on the water regardless of their skill, ability, or socioeconomic background, helping them to build their skills, and inspiring a love for learning amongst our Island’s youth through Endeavour’s STEAM through Sailing educational programmes for many years ahead” concludes Tom Herbert-Evans, Endeavour’s Community Sailing Manager.
Thank you BF&M for your continued sponsorship of this excellent learning programme!
Endeavour has proved to be such a worthwhile sailing program.
So good to read that BF&M will be continuing their support for the next few years.
