Fiqre Crockwell Memorial Tournament To Be Held
A cricket tournament in memory of late cricketer Fiqre Crockwell will be held at St. David’s County Cricket Club on Saturday [April 14], kicking off the new cricket season.
A spokesperson said, “The Fiqre Crockwell Cricket Foundation committee, made up of Zakiya Bean, Raykeisha Burgess, sister Ceblé Crockwell, cousin Serena Crockwell, OJ Minors and Keishae Robinson, has been planning the match since January.
“As well as honouring Crockwell, the committee aims to raise awareness of the gun violence that is impacting the island. Games will start at 9am, with the final scheduled for 7pm.
“A total of eight teams will play ten-a-side matches with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. There will be entertainment throughout the day, including Xtreme Sports, face painting and fun castle for the children, food vendors, a DJ and ending the day with Gombey Warriors.
“On the Friday night at St David’s we will have a happy hour from 7 to 9pm when teams can get their jerseys and we will release the schedule. There will also be an under-12 showcase match between St David’s and Flatts on Friday evening.”
