Power Boat Engine ‘Exploded’ In Great Sound
On Sunday [May 6] an 18ft power boat reported that their “engine has exploded and vessel is taking on water” in the Great Sound.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Sunday 6th May, 2:11pm. Bermuda Radio is contacted by person onboard an 18ft Power boat reporting that engine has exploded, and vessel is taking on water in the Great Sound near Morgan’s Point, with two persons onboard.
“Bermuda Radio commences Urgent Marine Information Broadcast [PANPAN] while also dispatching Marine Police boat ‘Rescue One’ to assist. Sailing vessel ‘Sonoma’ responds to Bermuda Radio’s call for assistance, reporting that they have casualty in sight and will be on scene in a matter of minutes.
“Rescue One arrives on scene reporting that the casualty ‘B-12’ has taken on too much water and capsized. However, both persons are safe and well with vessel under tow to slip at Morgan’s Point.”
