Swimathon At BASA Pool On June 2nd
On Saturday June 2nd, the Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association [BASA] will be holding a Swimathon at the BASA Pool throughout the day in order to raise money to replace the current starting blocks with Myrtha Track Start Blocks.
From 6am to midnight, the three clubs will work together to swim as far as possible and raise as much money as possible to make this happen.
BASA President Nic Patterson said, “With our current membership base all participating the blocks can be replaced for as little as $140 per member.
“We encourage swimmers to reach out to friends and family to donate to this cause. Donations can be lump sum or can be done on a per lap basis [$0.25 per lap], which can motivate swimmers to swim as far as possible.
“Each of the three clubs have scheduled practices at the BASA pool throughout the day to give their swimmers time to swim. Please contact your individual clubs to find out when these practices have been scheduled.
“I hope this can be a great opportunity for the swimmers to get together and work together for a common cause which is to improve the pool they all use for meets and training and realize how far they can push themselves when given a chance.”
