One Lane Road Closure On Harbour Road
From June 19 through July 10, there will be a one-lane road closure on Harbour Road in Paget to accommodate planned construction work.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works is advising motorists that on June 19th through July 10th there will be a one-lane road closure on Harbour Road, Paget for planned construction works.
“Construction works will get underway at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19th and will continue through Tuesday, July 10th into the evening.
“Detours are as follows:
- Traffic travelling along Harbour Road in a westerly direction from Hamilton will be detoured towards Lovers Lane
- Traffic traveling from the west end of the island towards Hamilton along Harbour Road will be detoured towards Chapel Road.
“Due to the length of time of these works, the public is encouraged to plan ahead and take alternative routes wherever possible.
“The Ministry takes this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.”
What is the planned construction work? The Ministry spokesperson is being deliberately vague, I am not adverse to experiencing traffic inconvenience for progress but the vagueness of the Ministry’s information causes me to become suspicious that the intended “construction” relates to a private construction and road users who pay to use the road will once again be inconvenienced whenever a Harbour Road resident considers “construction.”
While I am a harbour road commuter sympathetic to your concerns, there aren’t a lot of great options here. Notice that the timing appears to coincide with summer break from school.
Transparency at work, maybe someone else doesn’t want wires in front of their house. Ministry spokesman should be fired.
Traffic is already bad, this is just going to make it even worse!
Why oh WHY couldn’t this wait until the schools close for summer break?!! Traffic from the west is already a nightmare!!
Well if it’s starting at 7am you know it’s not a government project.
