New Bermuda Duty-Free Store Opens At Airport
Bermuda Skyport launched a new “walk-through” duty-free shopping concept at the LF Wade International Airport.
The new 3,500 ft2 duty-free shop occupies a central position in the US Departures Lounge and features more open access, a wider inventory and a focus on Bermudian products.
Bermuda Duty-Free, owned and operated by Gosling’s, officially launched the new shop on Wednesday with a festive ribbon cutting and wine tasting event. The walk-through layout and openness of the new space is evocative of contemporary retail design found at larger airports, while the expanded range of local and international products provides departing passengers with a more rewarding shopping experience.
Ken Hassard, Director, Commercial, of Bermuda Skyport, says: “We’re truly excited about having this magnificent new showcase for Bermudian products and brands in a space that also features established and bestselling international brands.”
Homegrown Bermudian products featured include TABS [The Authentic Bermuda Shorts], Lili Bermuda perfumes, Alexandra Mosher jewellery, Tiny the Treefrog books and of course Gosling’s world famous Black Seal and Gold Seal rums.
Outbound travellers now have more space and a wider selection of genuine Bermudian items to purchase before leaving the island. Additional duty-free items featured include Cuban cigars, premium liquors, wines, perfume, sundries and more.
Charles Gosling, Managing Director, Gosling’s, says: “Bermuda Duty-Free is pleased to announce the opening of its expanded US Departures Duty Free Store. While this is the third iteration of our US Store, the doubling of size and better traffic flow has shown immediate results in improved sales.
“Our intent is to provide, beyond the usual premium duty free choices, a Bermuda farewell to all with a true selection of luxury Bermuda made or Bermuda related product. Skyport has been an excellent partner in this process.”
