Tonight: Road Safety Meeting At Berkeley Institute

June 27, 2018

Transport officials tonight will “reveal strategic details of a new road safety initiative designed to curb Bermuda’s high rate of traffic collisions,” the Government said.

“At a town hall meeting at the Berkeley Institute beginning at 7pm, initiatives such as the proposed road-side sobriety preliminary testing will be discussed, as will the full road safety plan, titled Operation Caution,” a spokesperson said.

“Headed up by Transport and Regulatory Affairs Minister Walter Roban, those attending tonight’s meeting will also learn more about Government’s plans to introduce speed cameras to automatically ticket speeders and slow-down motorists.

“Tonight’s meeting follows Monday’s Town Hall meeting in the western parishes, and, precedes one for the eastern parishes at Penno’s Wharf tomorrow, Thursday, June 28.

“Government’s Road Safety Officer David Minors will expand on the details of Operation Caution, which is aimed at promoting safer driving habits, as the Government seeks a more definitive role in tackling Bermuda’s poor driving habits.”
