Court: Driver Fined For Striking Pedestrian

A motorist who knocked down a pedestrian has been fined $800.

Lisa Brewster pleaded guilty to careless driving at Magistrates Court this morning [July 2].

Brewster collided with the female pedestrian on March 6 at the junction of Victoria Street and King Street in Hamilton.

The court heard that the victim suffered multiple contusions and soft tissue injuries resulting in her being unable to work.

Brewster, 49, of Pembroke apologized for her actions this morning at court, but maintained that the pedestrian had not been in her line of sight.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo imposed 10 demerit points on Brewster’s license as well as the fine.
