Court: Man Banned For Dangerous Driving

July 2, 2018

A motorcyclist who sped off from police and drove the wrong way down a one-way road has been banned from driving for 18 months.

Ryan Fox, 49, of Pembroke was stopped by police after disobeying a traffic sign in Hamilton on June 30.

Fox initially stopped and was spoken to by officers, but drove off when officers told him there was outstanding warrants for his arrest.

He proceeded to speed down Church Street against the flow of traffic before mounting the pavement.

Prosecutor Nicole Smith told the court that officers did not pursue him because it was too dangerous.

This morning, Fox admitted disobeying a traffic sign, dangerous driving and escaping lawful custody.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo imposed an immediate driving ban and ordered a social inquiry report on the defendant.

Fox was released on bail and will return to court on August 16 for sentence on the outstanding charges.
