Cricket: Flatt’s Victoria Defeats Western Stars
[Updated] Flatt’s Victoria became the first First Division Runners Up to gain promotion to the Premier Division when they defeated Western Stars by 4 Wickets at the PHC Stadium in a Play-off match.
Western Stars won toss and decided to bat, they were bowled out for 115, Nyon Steede was their top scorer with 32 not out, while Jekon Edness and Khiry Furbert both added 17. Nelson Bascome Jr. was the pick of the Flatt’s Victoria bowlers with figures of 9-2-26-4, with Kijuan Franks bowling 8-0-27-2.
In reply Flatt’s Victoria would score 119/6, Reggie Baker was the top scorer with 31, while Paul Carr was 29 not out and Christof Van Tonder added 22 not out, Flatt’s at one point were 28/3they would then lose three wickets in the 90’s. Wendell White was the pick of the Western Stars bowlers with figures of 7-1-19-3.

Update 11.10am: BCB President, Lloyd Smith, congratulated Flatts VRC on their historic victory in the One Communications Play-off match against Western Stars at PHC yesterday.
Flatts win secures their promotion to the One Communications Premier Division in 2019 and relegates Western Stars to the First Division.
“I commend Flatts for their victory yesterday especially as they have become the only First Division team to ever win this crucial fixture. They have been close twice before but now take their well deserved spot in the Premier Division next year. I look forward to their match on Sunday August 5th at St. John’s Road in the inaugural One Communications Championship against Eastern County rivals Cleveland who they are scheduled to meet in the 2ndround of Eastern County.”
