Premier Burt’s Trip To CARICOM Cost $2,066.04

A trip earlier by Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt to attend the annual Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government in Jamaica cost $2,066.04, according to a recent listing on the Government’s travel webpage.

The trip duration was listed as from July 4, 2018 – July 6, 2018, and the web page listing said, “Attended the Thirty-ninth Annual Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government.

“It was the first Heads of Government meeting since Premier David Burt assumed office. The Premier presented on Bermuda’s FinTech ambitions and further discussed how Distributed Ledger technology can more generally assist with challenges in servicing citizens and increase government efficiency in areas of healthcare, social insurance and licensing, as well as the strides Bermuda is making in these areas.

“The Premier also offered to share experiences with dealing with the European Union and coordinate with other CARICOM countries on engaging with the European Union on the issue of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes.”
