Digicel recently signed a three year extension of their sponsorship of Eastern County Cricket, with the company making the announcement at a press conference this afternoon [July 17] with the captains the Eastern County teams.
A spokesperson said, “Today, Digicel announced it has extended its sponsorship of the Eastern County Series until 2020. The telecoms company has been involved with Eastern County since 2015 and over that time the company has invested in the Association as well as providing entertainment and competitions for fans at each game.”
Nigel Taylor, Digicel Fibre Marketing Manager, said, “We’re delighted to continue our successful partnership with Eastern County and it is without doubt the biggest community event around cricket in Bermuda.
“This year’s venue, Baileys Bay, is such a compact and unique venue that lends itself so well to cricket so we’re encouraging people who mightn’t have gone to an Eastern County game before to come along to experience it first-hand.
“No doubt this year’s series will mirror the excitement of last year’s series as well as the atmosphere that makes Eastern County so special.”
“This year Digicel has underlined its commitment to cricket by also sponsoring the Bermuda Cricket Associations U12 Youth Summer Series and hopefully we’ll see the next generation of Eastern County players emerge from this.”

“Eastern Counties has a legacy and cultural heritage dating back to 1904 and it has its’ success rooted in two communities getting together and over the years we’ve been able to sustain that community feel among the four clubs. Over the years the competitiveness has grown which makes it that much more special than other competitions. League Cricket has its place but doesn’t compare to Eastern Counties.”
