Court: Man Charged With Rape In 1988

Appearing in Magistrates Court today, a man was charged for a rape that happened in 1988.
The man, who cannot be named at this stage for legal reasons, allegedly committed the offence sometime between the dates of September 1988 and October 1988. He did not enter a plea as the charge will be heard in Supreme Court.
The man was granted a $10,000 bail with like surety on the condition he have no contact with the alleged victim and must report to the Hamilton Police Station on Mondays and Fridays between 6 am and 8pm.
His next court date is September 4.
