Nahki Wells Joins Queens Park Rangers On Loan
Bermudian footballer Nahki Wells has joined Championship club Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan, with QPR announcing they have “bolstered their attack with the loan signing of striker Nahki Wells”, who they said will wear the number 32 shirt and “could make his debut against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.”
The Bermudian footballer was a star striker for Huddersfield before moving to Burnley in a multi-million dollar transfer last year, however Burnley did not afford Wells much playing time, with the Bermudian making only ten appearances for the club, all as a substitute.
In announcing the deal, Burnley said, “Striker Nahki Wells has joined Championship club Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan.
“The Bermudian international has made just 10 substitute appearances since joining the Clarets from Huddersfield Town 12 months ago.
“Wells, 28, underwent a medical at Loftus Road today and joins the R’s for the remainder of the campaign.”
The Queen’s Park Rangers website also announced the deal saying, “The 28-year-old arrives from Premier League side Burnley, joining until the end of the season.
“Bermuda-born Wells comes with plenty of Championship experience, having scored 48 goals in 152 appearances previously with Huddersfield Town – hitting double figures in each of his three full seasons with the Terriers, with whom he helped fire to promotion in 2016/17.”
” Wells – who has found the net on each of his previous three outings at Loftus Road – is excited about playing in front of the R’s faithful.”
“It’s a challenge that excites me a lot,” Wells said.
“I have had the struggles of fighting to stay in the league as well as getting promoted. I like to think the club are getting someone who’s hungry, excited, who has experience at this level and knows what it takes to grind out a long, tough season.
“I’ve always enjoyed my visits to Loftus Road,” he added. “It’s a great ground. I’m looking forward to playing there regularly and hopefully I can continue that run of scoring goals at home now.
“Wells joins fellow frontman Tomer Hemed, following the Israeli’s arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier on Thursday.
Steve McClaren is pleased to have both on board, adding: “I’m delighted with Tomer and Nahki now too to join him. I know them very well – they’re a nightmare to play against! I’m glad to have them in our squad. They’re two very good strikers with great pedigree and experience.
“Nahki is proven, he scores goals. He’s scored goals at this level, he’s played in a team which has secured promotion so he’s someone who’s been there and done it. That’s exactly what we need.”
“Wells will wear the number 32 shirt and could make his debut against Wigan Athletic on Saturday
Good luck, Nahki. Dyche should have given him a run of games.
QPR going down
Awesome news! I hope that he gets back to his old form quickly and starts banging the goals i…starting this weekend! Dyche never gave him a fair chance and continued to buy and bench players. What is he left with now? One or two guys that think they deserve to be a part of the next level teams (Man U, Man C, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool etc..) or deserve more $ to stay, and the rest wondering when their replacements will be coming. This manager shows no loyalty, has a short memory and perhaps holds grudges too long. May Nhakki help QPR get back to Premier league and watch Burnley retreat.
Very good post, every team Wells played for had gotten promoted!
Enfin, Nahki! Bonne Chance. Je suis heureux pour vous!!
