Brownies Spread The Gift Of Reading In Nepal
The First Devonshire Brownies are getting set to take part in a series of bake sales in order to raise funds for a literacy initiative for children in Nepal.
A spokesperson said, “First Devonshire Brownies will soon embark on a series of bake sales in order to raise funds for a literacy initiative in Nepal where thousands of children are not exposed to books.
“They are forced to work in order to help their parents. Many do not go to school and those that do are schooled in very humble learning environments.”
“The Brownies have already made bookmarks for their new friends in Nepal and are planning for upcoming bake sales where they will assist in baking goodies both in brownie cooking classes and at home under the supervision of their parents. They will learn to read recipes, measure and create tasty baked goodies.
“The guest speaker from Katkids Charity was Jennie Lee O’Donnell.
“The brownies welcomed their guest along with their new incoming Tawny Owl, Mrs. Relda Jones, who will join Brown Owl Cathy Bassett. Mrs Jones’ daughter, Scenttia, was a leading Brownie twenty six years ago under Brown Own Bassett.”
