Home Affairs Minister’s Labour Day Message
[Minister of Home Affairs Walton Brown’s Labour Day message]
Good Day Bermuda,
As the Minister responsible for Labour, it is my distinguished privilege to extend best wishes to you all on Labour Day.
On this auspicious occasion, I wish to salute each and every worker for your contribution to Bermuda. Without your dedication and service, Bermuda simply wouldn’t run. You are the lifeblood of this community.
To the unions, I would like to thank you for continuing to protect our workers. You play a crucial role in advocating for the rights of workers and ensuring a harmonious working environment.
To those employers who fully invest in their employees, may you continue to maintain a competitive advantage over those employers who do not work as diligently in providing employees with the skills they need and empowering them to perform their jobs in the workplace.
We must all work together to resolve our issues, through regular and respectful dialogue. Labor relations should be conducted in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect. Simply put, it’s good for the country when the Government and the Unions have a positive working relationship…and this Government strongly values that relationship.
One of my goals as Minister, is to work to further improve labour relations in Bermuda.
And as we celebrate today, let us not forget individuals like Dr. E. F. Gordon, Dr. Barbara Ball… and other pioneers who fought for equality, better working conditions, and fairness.
Labour Day celebrates the joy and satisfaction that comes from hard work and constant commitment….the sense of a good job done, a day well spent and the pride of accomplishments are also reflected in this celebration.
To Bermuda’s workers, I applaud you for continuing to do your part and committing to being responsible, innovative, respectful and hardworking members of our workforce.
Thank you and enjoy the Labour Day Holiday.
SSDD,typical plp propaganda
I like the part where he says that the government will compell the BIU to produce back dated financial reports.
More BS.
What do unionised bees ask for?
More honey and shorter working flowers.
Much more moderate than the Acting Premier. Did they not compare notes?
