186 Goals Scored In Senior Netball League
The Bermuda Netball Association’s Senior League season got underway at the Bernard Park, with a total of 182 goals scored in the three matches played.
The Phoenix Heat came out victorious in the first game of the night against Storm Thunder 29 – 20, the youthful Storm Thunder kept Phoenix Heat on their toes with their speed and fitness but composure kept the Heat in the lead.
The Phoenix Heat were led to victory by MVP Chelzea Somner who had 18 goals, Arkeita Fubler added 6 goals and Dominique Richardson scored 5 times. MVP Nabiilah Nasir scored 10 goals for the Storm Thunder, while Kaamilah Nasir added 7 goals and Selah Tuzo scored 3 times.
The first two quarters saw Robin Hood lead the Storm Lightning by as many as 8 goals. Player coach and MVP Naomi Taylor was subbed as center and the Storm Lightning found their rhythm as Shivaughn Lee took over as goal attack which slowed the game pace. Storm Lightning caught up, passed their opposition and won by 10 goals, with a score of 39 – 29.
The Storm Lightning were led to victory by MVP Sonja Townsend who had a game high 24 goals, Lee added 10 goals and Sakiyah Durham scored 5 times, Amanda Burns led Robin Hood with 15 goals and Charlie Bridgeman added 14 goals.
The closest game of the night was between the North Village Lady Rams and the Lindos Tigers. The Lindos Tigers dominated the game winning quarters 1, 2 and 3 and at one point were up by at least 10 goals.
Going into the last quarter, North Village Lady Rams MVP goal shooter Jahtuere Trott turned up the heat scoring a game high 25 goals as she played against her twin sister and the Lindos Tigers MVP Jahkenya Trott who scored 18 goals. This game saw the North Village Lady Rams win by one, with a final score of 33 – 32.
North Village Lady Rams got 6 goals from Tawana Trott and 2 goals from Sara Tufts-Robinson, while Demiqua Daniels added 15 goals for the Lindos Tigers.
