New Zealand Defeat Bermuda Netball Team

Bermuda started competing in the 2013 World Youth Netball Championships in Scotland today [Aug 23], losing 107-16 to New Zealand.

The New Zealanders took an early lead 6-1 within the first four minutes, and showed dominance throughout the court and transitioned smoothly from defence to attack.

“Today was definitely an eye opener,” said Bermuda captain, Jaylynn Hines. “We’ve never played a team quite like New Zealand. We definitely have the determination to do better than we did today.”

The tournament is taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, and the competing countries are Australia, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, England, Fiji, Israel, Jamaica, Malta, Namibia, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Papau New Guinea, Republic of Ireland, Samoa, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago and Wales.

Bermuda’s next game will be against Trinidad and Tobago tomorrow.
