Ball Hockey: Guelph Storm, Calgary Hitmen Win
With the ISBHF World Masters Championships that brought ball hockey to a momentary spotlight diminishing in the rear view mirror local league competition has returned and continues to impress.
The Bermuda Ball Hockey Association’s Winter League season is under-way and had a total of nine goals were scored in a double header at the PCC Hockey Rink on Monday.
In the first game Guelph Storm got past Rimouski Oceanic 3-2 in an exciting affair. At the end of the initial period the score was deadlocked at 1 – 1, after Guelph Storm took the lead when Christopher Merritt scored only to have Rimouski Oceanic draw level through Craig Macneil, as he found the back of the net.
The affair continued with Storm again edging in front behind the stick of Nathan Kowalski and their opponents levelling matters again with Josh Bush the scorer, Storm ultimately won when Kowalski scored his second goal of the game.
Next up were Calgary Hitmen and Worchester Railers, with the former ending victorious 3-1.
Ross Rufiange would lead the Calgary Hitmen with two goals, while Jeff Morash added the other. Joel Neal scored the lone goal for the Worchester Railers.
