Children’s Reading Festival Set For Tomorrow
The Bermuda Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will hold their 19th annual Children’s Reading Festival in Victoria Park tomorrow [Nov 3] from 11.00am to 4.00pm.
The Chairperson of this year’s event, Shawnette Smith, said, “This is a signature event for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. in Bermuda. It is designed for children from birth to Primary 6. Attendees will participate in storytelling, literacy games, and arts and crafts. There will also be fun castles, face painting and popcorn.”
“One of the important components of the day is to provide parents with access to resources about literacy. Representatives from the Department of Health Speech Therapy, the Department of Education’s PowerSchool, the Reading Clinic, BrainHub, Bright Isle and the Youth Library will be available to answer questions.”
“With the generous support of our sponsors, everything at the reading festival is free, including the book each child selects to take home. Our sponsors this year are KPMG, the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, Spa Water, Open Your Heart Foundation, Live My Life Promotions, Dunkley’s, Butterfield & Vallis and Kara’s Kitchen.
