A spokesperson said, “Before the beginning of the 2018 school year, Mrs. Kimberley Caines-Best spearheaded the efforts of Marsden First United Methodist Church to partner with the Support Public Schools [SPS] initiative, which is led by Juliana Snelling.

“A coordinated effort was then undertaken, together with Pastor Joseph Whalen, to adopt Harrington Sound Primary School, which is the closest school to Marsden Church. Special offerings were raised over numerous Sundays specifically for this project. Mrs. Cindy Weeks, the school’s Acting Principal, provided a wish list of supplies on behalf of her teachers.

“The Marsden Church Family raised sufficient funds to purchase and deliver: two Sand and Water Activity Play Tables and a large quantity of acrylic paints—for the art room; a large quantity of hand sanitizers, boxes of tissues, pencils, crayons, colored pens, rulers, glue sticks—to meet the needs of the general student population.

“In total, the church contributed over $1,100 in supplies. Additionally, other items were donated to the school by individual church members. Mrs. Caines-Best expressed the church’s great pleasure in having this opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community, especially to the education of our children.”

On behalf of Harrington Sound Primary School, Mrs. Weeks conveyed deep appreciation to the people of Marsden Church and stated that, “As a school, we pride ourselves on consistently cultivating a love of learning, as we elevate the academic excellence from P1-6. We believe that these items will play a pivotal role to that end.”
