Video: New Airport Main Entrance & Access Road
Skyport has released the twentieth episode of ‘Taking Off’, a video series with host Mikaela Pearman that highlights the airport redevelopment project, with this episode highlighting the new main entrance and access road.
Speaking in the twentieth episode, Mikaela Pearman said, “Right now I’m standing at what will be the entrance to the new airport terminal. Because the terminal is being built in a different location than the existing terminal, we are creating a new main entrance and access road.
“The new road will allow access to and from the new terminal building for both arriving and departing passengers; and to our newly constructed parking lots conveniently located in front of the passenger terminal.
“And this bus shelter off the main roundabout will give way to the new main entrance with work expected to kick off early in the New Year.
“Taxis and buses will also use the new road, and each will have a designated drop off point.
“The roadway itself will slope upward to a higher level so as to meet the elevation of the new terminal, which is four feet above the grade of the existing terminal. It was built higher for protection against storm surges and potential flooding.
“Once we get closer to completion, I’ll come back so you can see how it’s shaping up. The new road is expected to be finished in early 2020.”
How about a dock so boaters can drop off and pickup passengers? Simple add. Why is this not in the plans?
Wow! I’m actually surprised by the progress! Well, when the Canadians are constructing and NOT Bermudians, expect estimated deadlines to be met.
