Dennis Rahiim Watson Day Declared In New York

Dennis Rahiim Watson Appreciation Day has been declared as August 19, 2017 in Manhattan, New York City by Manhattan Borough President Gail Brewer, with Mr. Watson also receiving a citation from City Comptroller Scott Stringer for his anti-gun violence among black males campaign dubbed ‘Black on Black Love -To End Black on Black Violence.’

The citation said, “The City of New York, Office of the Comptroller presented a commendation to Dennis Rahiim Watson for more then three decades of outstanding work to support families and young New Yorkers across the five boroughs; for his commitment to ending gun violence in African American communities; for his steadfast leadership as Chairman of the Black Men Against Gun Violence Task Force and President/CEO of the Center for Black Student Achievement; for his dedicated efforts to address issues affecting our City’s African American residents; for working together with community leaders and elected officials to raise awareness about the negative impacts of gun violence; for his devoted effort to improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers; and for his tremendous contributions to the City of New York.”
