JetBlue Flight Diverts With Sick Passenger
[Updated] A JetBlue Airways plane has landed at L.F. Wade International Airport tonight [Jan 24] after a passenger on board took ill and the pilot diverted the aircraft to Bermuda.
Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel and airport officials are meeting the plane at the main terminal where the sick passenger is due to be transported by ambulance to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Flight #740 had departed V. C. Bird International Airport in St. John’s, Antigua and was on its way to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
Update 10.15pm: A police spokesperson said, “Police can report that a 49 year old female Jamaican national residing in New York took ill on a JetBlue flight from Antigua.
“As a result, flight was instructed to divert to Bermuda in the abundance of caution.
“On arrival at L.F Wade the passenger was going in and out of consciousness. She has been conveyed to KEMH for further medical attention.
“The jet blue flight is due to leave shortly after refueling.”
