Car Lands On Side After Collision In Prospect
[Updated with video] Emergency services responded to a collision this afternoon [Feb 6] outside the police club in Prospect, in which a 78-year-man crashed into a wall resulting in the car landing on its side, with officials saying they believe the ”incident was as a result of a medical condition.”
The BFRS said that bystanders helped the driver out of the vehicle, and he is “not suffering from any life threatening injuries.” Further details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.
Update 4.35pm: A police spokesperson said, “Police and Bermuda Fire Services responded to a report of an incident that took place on Headquarters Hill, Prospect Devonshire outside of the Police Recreation Club at 1:38pm today [Wednesday].
“It appears that a 78-year-old man, as a result of a medical incident, lost control of his vehicle – resulting in the car overturning with the man trapped inside.
“Individuals in the immediate area came to the driver’s aid and extricated him from the vehicle.
“The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service processed the scene and performed first aid until the 78-year-old man was taken via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where his condition is unknown at this point.
“However, an update on the driver is anticipated in due course.
“Any witnesses are encouraged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
