$238,000 Cost For Three FinTech Consultants

March 4, 2019

[Updated] Denis Pitcher is being paid $9,034.12 per month or $108,409.40 for the period of the contract; Lydia Dickens was paid $70,000 for her consultancy services from August 20, 2018 to November 30, 2018, and Loretta Joseph was paid $60,000 for the time frame of February 1, 2018 to April 30, 2018.

These numbers were stated in either a past Official Notice or the reply to Parliamentary Question from MP Michael Dunkley, which asked Premier David Burt for a “list of the names of all FinTech consultants employed by the Government since 18th July 2017, including the terms of reference for the position, length of contract, remuneration and all benefits.”

Update 5.38pm: Mr Dunkley said, ““Lots of talk to date, lots of hype, many MOU’s without much follow up, Premier approves the sale of Bermudian land before the non Bermudian company appears to have a business license of any type, Fintech hub put on hold, many questions unanswered and now we learn significant funds for consultants. We look for a return on all the promises and money spent.”

  1. What says:

Oh be quiet Dunkley! We await the mythical $300 million from AC and the $300,000 from JetGate!

    • Shaquan says:

      Wow you are an idiot

    • LaV says:

What? Why are you so racist?

      • What says:

I am not racist! I just don’t like elitist white people who stole my family’s property away from them!

        • lav says:

LOL, What, someone stole a roll of toilet paper from ‘your family’?

      • Wawick Winner says:

        yawn

    • Tricia says:

Just jealous that the other side couldn’t organise it. Or even imagine it.

    • wahoo says:

Your own minister of finance has stated that he wishes he had an AC and I trust he knows something more than you. Anyhow stay on topic saying shut up to Mr. Dunkley and talking about the AC is hardly rational discussion.

      • What says:

Don’t worry the PLP will bring an event even bigger than AC to Bermuda and not just for elitist boat owners!

  2. Onion Peels says:

Denis bye, you’re being underpaid. Them other bye’s is making twice what you’re getting paid.

  3. Come Correct says:

When I grow up I want to be a consultant…

  4. Naturally says:

No surprises here. Same old, same old.

  5. Dumddumb says:

Is that the same Lydia Dickens who already has a job in the civil service? On what grounds is she being paid twice?

  6. aceboy says:

What do we get for all this cash? What exactly do these people do except collect a check?

  7. Lone Wolf says:

The pay scales for different services in this world are WAY off balance! Not even talking about Bermuda in particular. This is a worldwide problem. From sports stars to celebrities to consultants … they ALL get paid WAY too much! Meanwhile, ALL the people who serve those overpaid people are barely surviving on a 60 – 80 hour week! It’s just wrong.

  8. 2scoops says:

Will you ever admit that the A/Cup was a God send for Bermuda.
Ask the Taxi and Truck drivers and all the people who rented
    their houses for two years.
Bring yourself to the present and leave yesterday behind.

    • What says:

Why don’t you bring yourself into the present and stop trying to convince everyone that AC generated 300 million dollars! It did not!

      • question says:

        $235m. That’s what it generated.

        • What says:

Yeah right in Mickey Mouse Disney dollars you fool! Keep drinking the OBA koolaid and we will tax the sugar in it!

          • Question says:

            Man. You are really stupid.

            • What says:

Stupid maybe but not gullible like you OBA sheep! Dunkley and friends did a real number on Bermuda and all you saw was a boat race!

      • wahoo says:

Well the former plp administration made $900M disappear. How is that possible?

  9. FOOLED ME TWICE. says:

While its raining at the bus stop.

  10. Yummy says:

I hope the OFFICE OF THE TAX COMMISSIONER sees these figures, which are all subject to tax – confirms they are registered for taxes and have paid the appropriate tax!

  11. what's up? says:

A lot of consultants being paid by the PLP, they did the same thing before. Thought they could handle their own business, if not then why vote them in. I find this ridiculous. I would like to know from Burt when will we get lower health costs, retirement age increase, Grand Atlantic Building what’s going on there? Many more questions I have. Why is it that Burt is only concentrating on Fintech, which I know nothing about, than answering some of these questions? Why does it take so long for these important items to be put into place for Bermudians?

  12. What?? says:

The height of hypocrisy Mr Dunkley. $3.76 million spent on a casino gaming commission (mostly during the OBA administration). How many casinos are operating?

    • question says:

The PLP fired everyone the minute they got ion, remember?

You’ve had 25-11 for two years. If anything is a failure, you OWN it.

    • Trump supporter says:

If you think the OBA messed up gaming. Wonder what your thoughts are on what Jahmal did.. oh never mind.

      • What says:

Jamal kicked the Dunkley crew out! Schultz and Dunch and the rest of the Commission! Good riddance!

        • lav says:

I am not racist! I just don’t like elitist white people

LOL, what? you have no credibility
