Rosewood Bermuda today [March 4] announced that Paul Telford has stepped down as Managing Director and will continue to work with the property’s ownership group, “providing hospitality consultation on their investments in Bermuda”.

A spokesperson said, “Paul joined the resort as part of the opening team in 2008 and worked in several roles at the property before taking the helm as Managing Director in 2015. The hotel is grateful for the outstanding leadership that Paul has provided to Rosewood Bermuda over the last 10 years.

“In the last year alone, Paul led the Rosewood Bermuda team through a full renovation and successfully relaunched the property to great acclaim. During this time, Paul was also named as Chairman of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, as an ambassador for tourism on the island.

“Paul has played an important role in his work with Rosewood and the island of Bermuda with his stewardship and passion as a hospitality professional. We have the utmost respect for Paul, thank him for his efforts and steadfast commitment to the resort, and wish him much success in the next phase of his career.

“Rosewood corporate has commenced a worldwide search including Bermuda for the Managing Director role. Until a formal Managing Director has been appointed, Mr. Remus Palimaru, who is currently the Hotel Manager of the Rosewood London, has been brought in on a short-term assignment for overseeing the day to day operations of the hotel and to organize the property and team for the 2019 high season.”

Totally agree – but i have to ask: why is a bermudian being let go like this? What does zane think

    • Abroad says:

Former employee of his, here. I second your sentiments @Jessie. An incredible person.

  2. Vote for Me says:

Pardon the cynicism but this does not pass the smell test for me…

    • Cow polly says:

You are spot on. And not just Paul, other Bermudians seem to be losing their jobs to non Bermudians. The Tennis Pro, the Dive Shop and the Conference Services Manager to name three off the top of my head

  3. Stan Ray says:

Paul’s training, work experience and knowledge developed over his lengthy career in hospitality place him in an elite category of hotel manager / director.
Bermuda cannot afford to be without his positive and professional influence in local tourism, period.

  4. Oh, i see now says:

Let us hope that a young Bermudian made the effort to absorb the knowledge and experience in order hone his craft,That is how busboys became waiters to become captains. Those captains became Maitre Ds ,F and B managers and so on.

Miss the good old days.Anyone still remember how to serve veg with a spoon and fork?Getting rid of busboys was the beginning of the end.
