Woman Encouraged To Make Formal Complaint

April 25, 2019

The police say that they “are aware of the video circulating that shows a well known male member of the community on a pedal cycle assaulting a woman in a car” and are encouraging the woman to submit a formal complaint.

A police spokesperson said, “Bermuda Police Service is aware of the video circulating that shows a well known male member of our community on a pedal cycle assaulting a woman in a car.

“We would encourage that woman to make a formal complaint to the BPS thus allowing us to take action.”

The video, which is presumably the one referred to, appears to be filmed from her point of view. It shows a man shouting profanities at a woman who is sitting in a car and then kicking the car before reaching in through the window where it appears he assaults her.

    • Howie says:

I’m guessing that in order for them to do so, she has to press charges.

      • Question says:

No she doesn’t. The police have independent evidence of a crime. There is no need for anyone to “press charges”.

  2. MM says:

Can the police prosecute whether or not the woman makes a complaint.? I think the fear comes from frequent attacks later on so it now behooves the authorities to make a statement to our women, don’t leave it one-sided like it remains now all on the woman,s shoulders.

  3. Question says:

If someone has committed a crime and the police have evidence, why do they need the woman to report it?

    • Real Deal says:

Because that is stepping in uncharted territory that would need the necessary safeguards put in place

      • Question says:

It’s not uncharted at all. It’s the law. You lot have been watching too many American tv shows.

  4. Come on man!! says:

He doesn’t do it to men. He’s a coward. All who have seen the video know who he is. But as soon as she lodges an official complaint they will arrest him.

  5. Tropical Bananas says:

But when a vehicle is caught driving dangerous on a dash cam, you can go after that individual? smells like cheesy hypocrisy here. you would think a dangerous person like this would be apprehended after being recorded caught red handed.

  6. JIGGSBDA says:

How do you know it was not staged, that is probably why the police need her to file a complaint
