Recently, Premier David Burt joined Lovitta Foggo, Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sports, and Mr. George Outerbridge, the Director of the Department of Workforce Development, to congratulate Mr. Ranel Taylor as he was successfully placed in the Bermuda Government Training Agreement Programme.

“The Training Agreement Programme, offered by the Department of Workforce Development, provides individuals the opportunity to gain training and work experience,” the Government said.

“This training initiative also provides currently employed or new trainees the opportunity to enhance and upgrade their skill-sets, knowledge and competencies. Through this on-the-job training, Mr. Taylor will earn an income, while learning and receiving structured training to assist in acquiring National Certification in the occupation of welding.

“This industry driven initiative, will further afford Mr. Taylor the opportunity to gain experience in the welding industry matched with the expertise of Mr. Jibreel Talbot, owner and operator of Perfect Pass Welding and Diving Services.”

Premier Burt commented; “Last month, Mr. Taylor attended my monthly Chat & Chew and was unemployed. Today he has been successfully placed in the Bermuda Government Training Programme and will receive valuable training and work experience leading to him becoming a certified welder in Bermuda.

“I would like to thank Mr. Jibreel Talbot, Managing Director of Perfect Pass Welding & Diving Services for his support ensuring young Bermudians are able to learn the trades. We have increased funding for apprenticeships and I am happy that Mr. Taylor has gone from losing hope to having a bright future.”

This training opportunity was made possible with the assistance and cooperation of Mr. Jibreel Talbot, Chairman of the Welding Occupational Advisory Committee. Persons wishing to participate in this programme should contact the Department of Workforce Development.
